George Rohrig 1863-1930

George Rohrig, son Henry and Elizabeth Rohrig, was born
on a farm in Johnson County near Solon, Iowa, Dec. 28,
1863 and died suddenly Nov. 7, 1930.
At the age of 17 years he moved with his parents to
Fontana, Kansas in Miami county. In the year 1889 he
came to Iowa. November 12, 1891 he was united in
marriage to Mary Elizabeth Rohrig of Stanley, Iowa at
Independence, Iowa. To this union were born eight children,
five daughters and three sons, Ida, Clara, Elva, Marie,
Harley, Harold and Clifford, all at home, also Mrs. Albert
Eschen of Stanley, Iowa. His loving wife and companion
preceded him in death the 13th day of January 1926.
The past 27 years he has resided on his farm 1 1/4 miles
south and 1 mile west of Stanley. Besides his children he
is survived by three brothers, Joseph and William. of
Woodrow, Colorado and Charles H. of Oelwein, also two
sisters, Mrs. Abe Eastwood and Mrs. George Mathews, both
of Fontana, Kansas, also many neices, nephews, cousins
and other relatives. His father, mother and three sisters
having preceded him.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 2 pm,
Brother R. P. Roedell, an International Bible student of
Dubuque, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Maley sang the
two songs. Interment was beside his wife in the Stanley
Cemetery.
