Funeral services for Roger R. "Tubby" Ungerer, 65, of Hawkeye, Iowa, will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye with the Rev. William Horn officiating.

Visitation was set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the church today.

Interment will be in the Hawkeye Cemetery in Hawkeye.

Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye, is in charge of arrangements.

Tubby's death occurred Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner after a sudden illness.

Roger Raymond Ungerer, son of Fred and Mildred (Schlessner) Ungerer, was born July 6, 1945, in West Union. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye.

Roger graduated from North High School in West Union and Hawkeye Technical College in Waterloo.

On Sept. 20, 2003, he was united in marriage with Susan Albers in the Hawkeye City Park.

Tubby farmed the family farm near Hawkeye.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a Windsor Township Trustee.

Tubby was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, of Hawkeye; four children, Jenny (Colton) Eickhoff, Jason (Whitley) Cannon, and Missy (Mark) Cannon, all of Hawkeye, and Megan Cannon of Waukon; six grandchildren; a brother, Russell Ungerer of Fayette; three nieces; and four great-nieces and -nephews.
