Mr. Edward J. Krueger, 75, of 3410 Kimberly Drive, died at 10 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2003, at home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at Resurrection Catholic Church, 4300 Asbury Road, with the Rev. Patrick Geary, officiating. Private family burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. today at the church. The Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Krueger worked at Dubuque Insulation and Siding Co. for 42 years prior to retiring. He later worked part time at the Key West True Value Hardware Store.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1927, in Oelwein, Iowa, son of Edward R. and Irene (Fitzkee) Krueger. He married Helen J. Hulse on April 17, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein.
He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and was an Army veteran. He was an avid woodworking enthusiast and loved gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Helen J. (Hulse) Krueger; a son, Jeffrey (Cathy) Krueger, of Dubuque; a special son, Dave Zalaznik, of Peoria, Ill.; four daughters, Deborah (Ted) Muntz, of St. Michael, Minn., Nancy (Ronald) Noonan and Phyllis (Richard) McDonnell, both of Bernard, Iowa, and Jeanne (Kevin) Sweeney, of Dubuque; 15 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Storms, of St. Joseph, Mo., and Helen Edwards, of Waterloo, Iowa; and two special sisters, Monica Gallagher, of Nevada, Iowa, and Mary Hakanson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Michelle Marie Krueger; and a granddaughter, Brandy Kaye Woodcox.
The family requests no flowers. An Edward J. Krueger Memorial Fund has been established by his family.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Kirk Payne and staff, Hospice of Dubuque, and Finley Home Healthcare for their compassion shown to Ed during his illness.
