Delma Rae Knox, 54, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m., at United Methodist Church in Sumner, with burial in the Alpha Cemetery.

Delma (Northrop) Knox was born June 20, 1945, the daughter of Leland and Bernice (Snyder) Northrop. She graduated from West Union High School in 1963.

In October of 1963, she married LaVerne Knox. The couple later divorced.

Delma worked for Wapsie Produce in Decorah, where she earned her United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspector license. She worked at the Postville Turkey Plant for the USDA and at IBP as a USDA inspector from 1990-94. She became disabled and could no longer work.

Delma enjoyed sewing, making quilts, reading, watching television and attending family get-togethers.

Survivors include one son, Mark and Melissa Knox of Decorah; two daughters, Diana and Troy Mohlis of Waucoma, and Kari Knox of Waucoma; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth and Leslie Northrop of Floyd, and Ernie and Marty Northrop of Sumner; and five sisters, LeAnn and Al Blue of Waucoma, Evelyn and Howard Adams of Waucoma, Jeannie and Jim Boeckman of Readlyn, Marlys Northrop of Sumner and Kathy and Ralph Adams of Waucoma.

Delma Knox was preceded in death by her father, March 31, 1987, and her mother, June 12, 1991.
