John William Lincoln 1861-1926

LINCOLN, SCHWARTZ, SHERRIN, BIRD

John William Lincoln was born in
Ohio, August 24, 1861, coming with his
parents Gilbert and Louisa Lincoln
April, 1865 to Buchanan county, Iowa,
three years later his father bought
a farm two and one-half miles north
of Stanley in Scott township, Fayette
County, where William grew to manhood
and lived until August 1920
when they moved to Winthrop, Iowa
where he passed away March 25,
1926 at the age of 64 years, 7 months,
1 day old.
He was united in marriage with
Miss Augusta Schwartz, January 17,
1888.
Mr. Lincoln was baptised and united
with tho first Congregational
Church of Winthrop, Iowa, April 12,
1925. He was a member of the Modern
Woodmen of America at Stanley,
Iowa, he was a venerable councilman
of the lodge for a number of years, also
a member of the K. P. Lodge for a number
of years.
He leaves his wife, one sister, nephew and
a niece, a number of cousins besides
other relatives and friends mourn his
departure.
Funeral services were held from the
Congregational church in Winthrop Saturday
afternoon conducted by Rev. Hobson,
pastor of the church. Interment was in the
Stanley cemetery. The pallbearers were
Walter and Will Sherrin of Winthrop, Clark
Bird of Aurora, Horace Bird of Stanley, and
Will and John Lincoln of Scott township.
Mrs. Lincoln has the sympathy of her Stanley
friends in her sadness.
