Ethel E. Voshell 1911 - 2010

Funeral services for Ethel E. Voshell, 98, of Fayette, Iowa, were held Tuesday, July 27, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fayette. The Rev. Timothy Parker officiated.

Burial was in the West Union Cemetery, West Union.

A resident of Maple Crest Manor in Fayette for the past several years, Ethel died there on Thursday, July 22, 2010.

Arrangements were handled by Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette.

Ethel E. (Neumann) Voshell, the daughter of Edward H. and Mary (Leistickow) Neumann, was born Sept. 14, 1911, in Windsor Township of Fayette County.

She attended rural school in Windsor Township.

On Oct. 15, 1939, Ethel was united in marriage with Paul Voshell at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. The couple farmed in the Fayette area for many years prior to moving to town in 1972. Paul's death occurred on June 30, 1986.

Ethel had been a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette. She was also active in the Rural Improvement Club and volunteered at the senior citizen meal site.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ethel was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Neumann; and three sisters, Mildred Osmundson, Irene Dumermuth, and Erma Neumann.

Survivors include three sons, Duane (Carolyn) Voshell of Cedar Rapids, Gary (Barb) Voshell of Peoria, Ariz., and Lowell (Theresa) Voshell of Fayette; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel (Bud) Jensen of West Union.

The family suggests that friends may, if they wish, make memorial contributions in Ethel's name to Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette.
