Funeral services for Harry Jensen of Independence will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at the First Baptist church in Independence. The Rev. Vernon Link, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Mr. Jensen, a lifelong resident of Buchanan county died suddenly of a heart attack at his home south of Independence on Wednesday, May 2. He was born May 22, 1887 at Independence, the son of Lars P. and Sophia Christiansen Jensen.
He married Mae Gleerup on Sept. 2, 1909 at his home in Liberty township. He was a member of the First Baptist church and an honorary deacon.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Elmer of Independence and Donald of Jesup; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Smith, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Herbert (Norma) Arnold, Walker, and Mrs. Willard (Velma) Arnold, Rowley; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one son. The White Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Leonard Duckett, Verlan Smith, Henry Nielsen, Harry Gates, Nick C. Madison and Vern Osborne.
