Lucy Hines...
INDEPENDENCE-Funeral services for Lucy M. Hines of Independence will be 11 am., Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence, with Pastor Date Halverson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence.
Friends may call anytime today (Monday) at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
Mrs. Hines, 84, died Friday, Jan. 6, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Mrs. Hines was born Aug. 25, 1910, in Delaware County, the daughter of Harry E. and Matilda J. (Rodies) Troup. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1928 and Upper Iowa University in Fayette. She married Richard W. Forsythe Sept. 3, 1928 in Strawberry Point and they were later divorced. May 27, 1941, she married Vernie Hubert Hines in Kahoka, Mo. Mrs. Hines was a supervisor at the Independence Produce Company and a food service supervisor at the Mental Health Institute in Independence before retiring. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Vernie; four daughters, Beulah Skripsky of Winthrop, Geneva Smith of DeSoto, Wis., Dorothy Clinton and Barbara Estes, both of Independence; one son, Donald "Dutch" Forsythe of Independence; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth Hines; a sister Donna Miles; and three grandchildren.
