Alois Klinner

Alois Klinner, 94, of Waucoma, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at his home after a long illness.

A memorial mass was held Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waucoma, with the Rev. Raphael Ludwig, the Rev. Vincent Simon and the Rev. George Karnik as celebrants.

Music was by the St. Mary's choir with Janet Schmitt as soloist, and Jeanne Riha as organist.

Pat Bouska was the lector. Gift bearers were Chris Bouska, Erin Golly, and Sally, Tessa, April and Greg Lynch.

Mass servers and cross bearer were Mike Hoey, Scott Bouska and Sarah Bouska. Eucharistic minister was Agatha Burke.

Casket bearers were Robert Leo Smith, Jack McKone, Irvin Throndson, Clarence Throndson, Gary Decker and Jean Ott.

Interment was at the St. Rose Cemetery, Waucoma. The Waucoma Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.

Alois was the second youngest son of August and Anna Klinner's 11 children. He grew up in Quincy, Illinois, helping in his family's truck gardening business.

Due to a virus, he lost most of his hearing at age 7 and attended the Illinois School for the Deaf.

When was older, he attended a party for deaf students in Burlington, where he met his future wife, Olivette. She received her first letter from him Feb. 22,1935.

They were married Oct. 25, 1941, and had one daughter, Ruth. They lived north of Lawler until 1967 when they moved to New Hampton.

Alois worked for the B & P Silo Co. until he retired. He and Olivette then moved to Waucoma with Ruth and Gary in 1984.

Gardening, then woodworking, were his hobbies. He enjoyed baking and watching Cubs baseball.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Olivette; one daughter, Ruth and Gary Lynch; grandchildren Chris and Kevin Bouska, Erin and Jason Golly, Sally Lynch and Lyle Kriener, Tessa, April and Greg Lynch; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Martha Klinner and Mrs. Marie Klinner of Quincy, Illinois; and nieces and nephews.

Alois Klinner was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Roman, Joe, Herman, Bill, Barney, John, Henry, Frank, Anna and Louise.
