Joseph Nolte

Joseph A. Nolte, 87, of St. Lucas, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in New Hampton following a lengthy illness.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, with the Revs. Leander Reicks and Robert Hirsch officiating.

Lorraine Kuennen will be the organist. The St. Luke's choir will provide singing.

Casket bearers will be Roger Nolte, Leonard Nolte, John Kuennen, Marvin Knebel, Gene Winter and Ronald Nolte.

The Chekal Funeral Home of Fort Atkinson is handling arrangements, with visitation at the St. Lucas Chapel in St. Lucas. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Joseph was born Mary (sic) 21, 1912, in St. Lucas, the son of George and Magdeline (Loesch) Nolte. He attended St. Luke's Catholic School.

He farmed near St. Lucas for many years and enjoyed taking care of his cattle. Joseph lived at the New Hampton Care Center for the last two and a half years.

Survivors include one sister, Gorgonia Knebel of Jesup; one brother, Leonard Nolte of Waucoma; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph Nolte was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank, William, Alois and George; and two sisters, Elizabeth Winter and Teresa Bruening.
