The Rev. Arthur F. Roepke, 86, died Friday, July 9, at Oelwein Care Center in Oelwein, Iowa, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, with the Rev. Leo Combs-Lay officiating. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m., on Tuesday, also at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein.

He was born Nov. 25, 1923 in Oelwein. He attended Oelwein High School, Capital City Commercial College, Wartburg in Waverly and Seminary in Dubuque, and was ordained in 1957. He worked as a Lutheran missionary in New Guinea for 32 years and returned to Oelwein in 1989.

He is survived by a sister Ruth Sperry of Turlock, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Frances Roepke of Traer; nephews, David Anderson of Nevada, Doug Wetlaufer of Cedar Falls, Steve Wetlaufer of Winterset, and Tom Sperry of Turlock, Calif.; and a niece, Susan Sperry of Stockton, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm and Caroline; sisters, Elizabeth Anderson, Margaret Roepke, Esther Roepke and Freda Wetlaufer; brothers, Bill Roepke, Alvin Roepke, Paul Roepke and George Roepke.

A memorial fund has been established in his name to go to Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein.
