Marion A. Chase, 86, of Oelwein, Iowa, died on Friday morning, July 9, 2010 at the Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein.

Funeral services are 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with the Rev. Tim Schoepf officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday; Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Oelwein Health Care Center or the Susan K. Koman Cancer Foundation

Marion Arline Johnson was born on Nov. 2, 1923 at Oelwein, the daughter of Louis and Ellen (Friis) Johnson. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1941. She married Harold Duane Chase on Aug. 29, 1943 at Berkley, Calif. Marion and Harold moved back to Oelwein in 1956. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church, loved to play bridge, and enjoyed fishing with Harold. Marion had been a resident of the Oelwein Health Care Center since May of 2008.

She is survived by three sons, Larry (Sheila) Chase of Oxnard, Calif., Stephen "Louie" (Maribeth) Chase of Davenport, Craig (Connie) Chase of Oelwein; nine grandchildren, Joe, Mindy, Todd, Brian, Alexis, Lyndsay, Jacob, Benjamin, and Sarah; seven great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Harper, Everett, Jacob, Ella, Ciara, and Natalie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 14, 2009; a brother, Ralph Johnson; and two sisters, Blanche Trask and Dorothy Hoffman.
