Funeral services for Iona F. Patrick, 83, of Hawkeye, Iowa, were held Saturday, May 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. The Rev. William Horn officiated.

Interment was in the Hawkeye Cemetery, Hawkeye, with Jeromie Schroeder, Eric Schroeder, Michal Kresser, Dustin Patrick, Greg Lewis, Misty McFarlin, Cassie Patrick and April Davidson as pallbearers.

Arrangements were handled by Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye.

A resident of Waterloo for the past few years, Iona died of natural causes Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Iona Frances (Loftsgard) Patrick, daughter of Mellien and Stella (Erickson) Loftsgard, was born Nov. 18, 1926, at home in Gunder.

She was baptized and confirmed at Marion Lutheran Church of Gunder.

She graduated from Clermont High School in 1946.

On Oct. 17, 1948, Iona was united in marriage with Carl Albert Patrick. In addition to raising their six children, Iona worked at the Fayette County Care Facility during the 1970s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, who died July 22, 2006; her parents; and a brother, Clemens Loftsgard.

Iona is survived by six children, Carolyn Patrick of Waterloo, Jim Patrick of Hawkeye, Linda (Dennis) Schroeder of Sumner, and Cynthia (Rodney) Benson, Julie Patrick, and Marcia (David) Knipp, all of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; and a brother, Stanley Loftsgard of Richland, Mo.
