A. Hancock, who has been afflicted
with that dread disease, for so many
years, cancer, died last Sunday night,
aged 65 years. The deceased was
born in Wisconsin in 1830. In 1850
he came to Iowa, locating at West Union.
In 1851 he united his life's fortunes
with Miss Margaret Miller with
whom as a helpmeet he had lived happily
ever since. In 1857 he moved to
Jefferson township and has been a
resident here during all the years of
progress and developement. In the
last stages of his illness he was a
great sufferer, but bore it all with
fortitude. The funeral services were
conducted from the family residence
Tuesday afternoon. Elder Thos.
Blake, of Waterloo, officiating. A
wife and six children survive him.
One son, J. F. lives at Independence
and one son L. W. near Fayette. Another
grave is added to the cemetery
here and another respected citizen
has joined the silent march of the

sleeps well.
