Mrs. J. C. Bennett, residing near
this city, died at her home Sunday
evening of a complication of diseases.
She was born in 1832, near Concord,
New Hampshier, and resided there
till 1862 when she was married, and in
company with her husband came west
and located near where Oelwein now
stands. Here the family has continued
to reside up to the present time.
She was the mother of six children,
four of whom, two sons and two daughters,
survive with the husband and
father to mourn her loss. In her
youth she was baptized and was an attendant
of the Baptist church. The
funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon,
Rev. F. E. Day officiating. There was
a large attendance of old friends and
neighbors to do honor and respect to
an old neighbor and a pioneer of this
part of the state. Interment took
place in the Oelwein cemetery.
