Erma Mittelstadt

Funeral services for Erma Lubbers Pixler Mittelstadt were held at the Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, with Rev. Victor Baderschneider and Rev. Dave Nerdig officiating. Interment followed in the Postville Cemetery.

Mittelstadt was born Aug. 5, 1896 in Monona Township, Clayton county. She died suddenly June 8 at the age of 85.

Mittelstadt was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran church of Luana. She attended school through the eighth grade at the Monona Township school.

On July 31, 1915 she married Roy Pixler and they farmed in Clayton county until they moved to Monona in 1947

In 1953 Mittelstadt moved to West Union and in November 1957 married Bill Mittelstadt. She was employed by the Good Samaritan Home for several years.

Mittelstadt was preceded in death by her husband Roy Pixler, her husband Bill Mittelstadt and two brothers, Harry and Bill Lubbers.

She is survived by her son Glen PIxler of Luana; her daughter Verla Heusman Wold of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Carl of Dubuque and Henry of Farmersburg; a sister Louise Wegner of Gainesville, Fla.; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
