Sunday Rites for Clarence Cummings

A retired farmer, Clarence A. Cummings, 71, of RFD 2, died at Oelwein Mercy Hospital at 5:25 p.m. Thursday.

Services will be held at the Brant Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, with the Rev. Orval Roach of the Dunkerton Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbank cemetery. Mr. Cummings' body will lie in state at the Brant Funeral Home until hour of services.

Mr. Cummings was born July 12, 1880 in Lester Township in Blackhawk county, the son of Alexander and Martha Fox Cummings. He married Gertie Dewald, Dec. 25, 1906, at Fairbank.

The couple farmed until about 10 years ago. Mr. Cummings had been in failing health for the past six months.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Willard, Oelwein, and Clarence Jr., Oran; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle Teague, Mrs. Kenneth Shannon and Mrs. Walter Brickman, all of Oelwein; four brothers, Henry, Dunkerton; Roy, Waterloo; Earl, Cedar Rapids; Elmer, Fairbank; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Heinze, Dunkerton and Mrs. Rena Presba, Waterloo and 11 grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
