Mrs. C. A. Goodspeed - Obituary

Alta Loretta Torrey, was born July 15th, 1869 at Franklinville, New York.

When she was twelve years of age, her parents came to Iowa, locating at Taylorsville, Fayette county, where she grew to womanhood.

On April 29th, 1888, she was united in marriage to C. A. Goodspeed, making their home in Arlington until 1918 when they moved to Oelwein.

Besides the sorrowing husband, three children mourn the loss of a devoted mother.

Hal Goodspeed of Salt Lake City, Gladys Shepard of Highland Park, Chicago, Ill., and Margaret Ellis of Oelwein. Also two grandchildren, Betty Anne Shepard and Jeanne Marie Shepard.

On the same date sixteen years ago, a son, Norbert preceded her in death. Mrs. Goodspeed was devoted to her home and family and was always kind and thoughtful of others. She had been enjoying fairly good health until May 22nd when she suffered a severe heart attack from which she never rallied, quietly passing away at 11:30 a.m., May 27th.

Funeral services were conducted at the home, Thursday at 2 p.m. by the pastor of the Presbyterian church.

Burial at the Taylorville cemetery northeast of Arlington.
