A funeral mass for George Larson, 86, was held Monday, April 29, 1991, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church at Clermont. The Rev. David Ambrosy officiated. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery at Clermont.

George Victor Larson, son of Hans Jacob and Kathinka Larson, was born April 1, 1905, in Fayette County, near Clermont, IA. He died Friday, April 26, 1991, in University of Iowa Hospitals at Iowa City.

George attended the rural schools near his home. While still in his youth, the family moved to Canada. Returning to Iowa as a young man, he engaged in farming with his father.

On October 10, 1933 he married Susanna Gretchen Priest at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clermont. They had two children. They moved to Clermont where George was employed by the Valley Cooperative until his retirement in 1970.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leif and Carsten and a sister, Esther (Mrs. Aulden Cornish).

Surviving are his wife, Susanna, a daughter, Kathryn (Clifford) Ackerman of Allison, IA; and a son, Lyle (Virginia) Larson of St. Charles, IL; eight grandchildren: Steve, Tom and Mark Ackerman, Kathy Jo Heuer, Teresa Ackerman, Brent, Alicia and Kimberly Larson; nine great-grandchildren, a sister, Ruth (Ewald) Lyngaas of Clermont, a brother Howard (Jean) Larson of West Palm Beach, FL and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Priest of Clermont.

George was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Golden Age Club of Clermont.

Casket bearers were Steven, Mark and Tom Ackerman, Brent Larson, Joel Heuer and Rodney Nothwehr.
