Peter Wagner was born Aug. 20, 1832, in Hamilton county, Ohio, and came with his parents to Clayton county, Iowa, when fourteen years of age and to his present home in 1872.

Mr. Wagner was united in marriage to Mary E. Huntsinger June 2, 1861.

Mrs. Wagner died Dec. 20, 1911. They were parents of five sons--F. R. of Bemidji, Minn., Abner, who died in 1878; C.E. of Dover township, J.W. of Red Lake Falls, Minn; and E.O. at home. Mr. Wagner died at his home in Dover township June 18, 1912, at the age of seventy-nine years, nine months and twenty-eight days. He leaves to mourn his death four sons, seven grandchildren, and two sisters--Mrs. Stiner of Dover township and Mrs. Havens of Elkader.

Mr. Wagner had been sick twelve days, and was unconscious almost all that time. He was a member of the Dunkard church, having united with that church some years ago.

The funeral was held at the home in Dover township Wednesday, June 19, at 2 p.m., Rev. Leonard A. Swisher of West Union officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. A very large number of friends sincerely sympathize with the stricken family.
