Eva Elda Ott, 89, of Alpha passed away Monday, March 8, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa. Services are Friday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, Hawkeye, with burial at Alpha Cemetery, Alpha. The Reverend Jason Princer will be officiating. Public visitation is Thursday, March 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the S.K. Rogers Funeral Home, Sumner.

Eva was born on April 18, 1920 in Fayette County, to Arthur M. Stone and Elda O. (Waterworth) Stone. Eva was baptized and was a lifelong member of the Alpha Methodist Church. She graduated in 1937 from Alpha Consolidated School. On June 6, 1937, Eva married Noel (Hoot) Ott at the West Union Methodist Church, West Union.

Eva and Noel farmed in the Alpha area until Noel’s death on June 17, 1994. At this time, Eva moved into Alpha. She was very active in many groups including the Jolly Old-timers; the Happy Hearts; the Booster Club; the Alpha Coffee Club; the Alpha Adult Church Group; and the Conservation Club.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Lee) Hoeger of Sumner eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and 8 great great grand-children.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one daughter, Sharon Pleggenkuhle; one son-in-law, Don Pleggenkuhle; and one sister Jessie Geater.
