Harold Berton Harkin, 64, 414 5th Avenue SW, Oelwein, died Saturday, Aug. 2 at Mercy Hospital.
Services will be 11 am Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the Brant-Kerns-Jamison Funeral Home. Rev. LaVerne Streich will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn
Cemetery, with military graveside services by the Ross Reid American Legion Post No 9.
Harkin, a life-long Oelwein resident, was a retired bus driver for Hawkeye Stages, an Army
veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors are his wife Erma; four daughters, Mrs. Donald(Marlys) McLeish of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Bob (Diane)Huisman of Whittier, Calif.,
Mrs. Jim (Linda) Myers of Lamont and Karla Harkin of Oelwein; two sons, Gary and David, both of Oelwein; 14 granchildren and three greatgrand-
children; and two sisters, Mrs. Merial Soper of Hazleton and Mrs. Helena Reynolds of
Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild. Memorials may be given in his
name to the American Cancer Fund.
