Services Held For John Falb, Jr.

Funeral services for John Falb, Jr., 70, were held Sunday, Sept. 21, 1980 at 2:30 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated assisted by the Rev. A. A. McAvoy and the Rev. Dick F. Harberts. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

John Falb, Jr., son of John and Mary (Walthers) Falb, was born Nov. 11, 1909 at Elgin. He died Sept. 19, 1980 at Community Memorial hospital, Postville.

He attended school at Elgin, Upper Iowa University at Fayette and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1931. On May 13, 1934 he married Honorine Otley at Fayette, Iowa.

He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and Trustee. Also, he was on the Northeast Iowa Boy Scout Council for 20 years; a member and president of Kiwanis and Commercial Clubs of Postville; a member of the school board for 20 years and president for five years; Chairman of District 4 N. E. Iowa Automobile Dealers Association; a member of the Community Memorial Hospital Board for 10 years; he served on the Iowa Highway Commission from 1961 to 1965; director and officer of the Citizens State Bank; charter member of the Tri-City Country Club; and active member of the Republican Party; owner and president of Falb Motor Company in Postville; formerly part owner of John Falb Co., West Union and John Falb & Sons of Elgin, Falb-Bailey, Guttenberg; and Falb Motor and Implement, an International-Harvester dealer for 10 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dr. Richard O. Falb, and two brothers, Leo and Walter.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. John Gutz) of Cedar Rapids; two sons, John O. Falb of West Union and Mark C. Falb of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert and George, both of Elgin; and a sister, Marie Morris, Sun City Center, Fla.
