Funeral services for Harris Kjosa were held Monday, February 18, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran Church at Clermont. The Reverend David R. Nelson officiated. Marilana Sutter was the organist with special music by Arthur and Clarence Amundson. Casketbearers were Chris, Eric, Jacob and Blake Kjosa, Kevin and Vince Schweinefus, Arlin Schager and Keith Burger. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Gods Acres Cemetery at Clermont.

Harris Ordell Kjosa, the son of Theodore and Susanna (Halverson) Kjosa was born September 8, 1915, at Ridgeway, Iowa. He passed away Friday, February 15, 2002, in Palmer Lutheran Health Center at West Union, Iowa. He had reached the age of 86 years, five months, and seven days.

Harris was confirmed in the West Clermont Lutheran Church. He graduated from the Clermont High School.

On August 14, 1940 he was married to Isabell M. Hangartner in the St. Paul Lutheran Parsonage at Postville, Iowa by the Reverend Frederick R. Ludwig. To this union two children were born. Harris hauled canned milk for several years and then trucked sand and gravel locally. He and Isabell also operated the Riverside Inn Cafe and DX Station in Clermont. Harris drove a grain truck until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Kjosa.

Surviving are his wife, Isabell, a son, Ordell (Marjorie) Kjosa of Castalia, Iowa, and a daughter, Karen Kjosa and friend, Casey, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, four grandsons, Chris and Robin Kjosa, of Postville, Erick Kjosa and friend, Cathy Brown, of West Union, Iowa, Kevin Schweinefus and Rayne, of Monroe, Louisiana, and Vince and Cindy Schweinefus also of Monroe, Louisiana; eight great grandchildren, Veronica, Kyle, Devin, Calib, Tyler, Jacob, Blake, and Clarissa.

Harris was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and served on the Clermont City Council. He also belonged to the Two Cylinder Club and the Railroad Museum at Oelwein. Harris was interested in model trains and flying remote control airplanes.
