Funeral services for Anthony "Tony" Kerner were held Thursday, September 18, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran Church at Clermont, Iowa. The Reverend Helen Beth Kuhens officiated, assisted by Pastor Rusty Phillips. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Anthony "Tony" Steve Kerner, Sr., was born July 29, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, to Anton Michael and Anna Theresa (Bondan) Kerner. He passed away Saturday, September 13, 2003, in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 75 years, one month, and 14 days.

Tony attended St. Teresa's Catholic School in Chicago, Illinois. On June 20, 1977 he was married to Karenlee Laura Otto in Woodstock, Illinois. They are the parents of four sons, Dean, Steve, Andy, and Glenn.

Tony was employed in the construction business as a truck driver in Wauconda, Illinois, and then moved to Richmond, Illinois, where they owned and operated a bar. They moved to Clermont in 1986 and purchased a bar in Ossian.

Tony enjoyed working in his yard and going to garage sales. He and Karen spent many hours together working on jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, four sons, Dean of Wauconda, Ill, Steve and Glenn of Clermont, and Andy of Ossian; one grandchild, Christine Kerner Batikofer; and four sisters: Sister Vincent Kerner of Evansville, IN, Barbara Hayes, Rosemary Bunch of Crystal Lake, Ill, and Teresa Baier of Chicago.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Pete Kerner and a sister, Anna Kerner.

Tony was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church.
