Funeral services for Irene M. Dumermuth, 95, of Fayette, Iowa, were held Monday, Oct. 26, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette with Pastor Tim Parker officiating.

Burial followed in Grandview Cemetery, Fayette.

Kaiser Corson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Irene's death occurred Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

Irene Margaret (Neumann) Dumermuth was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Windsor Township, rural Hawkeye. She was the daughter of Edward Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Leistikow) Neumann.

Raised on the family farm, Irene attended Rolling Green Country School until eighth grade. She moved to West Union her sophomore year of high school. Irene received her high school degree and Normal Training Certificate from West Union High School in 1931.

After high school Irene taught rural school.

On Oct. 14, 1936, she was united in marriage with Eldred Dumermuth at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Eldorado.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked alongside her husband at Dumermuth and Fay Livestock Yard in Fayette.

Irene was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fayette, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldred, on July 11, 1973; a brother, Robert Neumann; and two sisters, Mildred Osmundson and Erma Neumann.

Irene is survived by her three children, Denny (Judy) Dumermuth of Kellogg, Dayna (Don) Timmerman of Cedar Falls, and Curt (Judy) Dumermuth of Ellsworth, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel (Bud) Jensen of West Union and Ethel Voshell of Fayette.
