Jane M. Bentley, 52, of Calmar, Iowa, died from complications of diabetes on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Donald Hawes on Friday, Oct. 16, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Calmar.
Interment was in St. Luke Catholic Cemetery, St. Lucas. Casket bearers were Tony Vandersee, Barry Bentley, Bryce Bentley, Bryan Huinker, Seth Huinker and Alex Bassett.
Arrangements were handled by Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, in Calmar.
Jane Marie (Huinker) Bentley was born May 5, 1957, in West Union. She was the daughter of Eugene and Dorothy (Sharp) Huinker.
Jane graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1975.
On Nov. 28, 1981, she was united in marriage with Jerry Bentley at St. Luke Catholic Church in St. Lucas.
Jane worked at Atwood Automotive in West Union for 28 years until October 2007.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Rosary Society in Calmar.
Preceding Jane in death were her mother, Dorothy Huinker, on Sept. 11, 2008; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
Jane's survivors include her husband, Jerry Bentley of Calmar; a daughter, Jess Bentley of Marshall, Minn.; three sons, Josh (Kristi) Bentley of Wyoming, Ia., Jordan Bentley and Jake Bentley, both of Calmar; and three grandchildren.
Also surviving are Jane's father, Eugene Huinker, formerly of St. Lucas, now residing in West Union; a sister, Kaye (Chuck) Bassett of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Arnie (Marilyn) Huinker of Lakeville, Minn., and Kurt (Dawn) Huinker of St. Lucas; two aunts; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
