Laura Amanda Olson

Funeral services for Laura Olson were held Saturday, Sept. 13, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont. The Rev. David Johnson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. interment was in the God's Acres Cemetery.

Laura Amanda Olson, daughter of John and Helena (Nelson) Mork, was born Jan. 10, 1902 in Dover Township, Fayette County. She died Thursday, Sept. 11 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

She was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church near Ossian. She attended the local rural school.

She was married to Henry Osterhus on Feb. 25, 1922. They had one daughter, Lorraine. Henry died in 1926. On June 7, 1930 she was married to L. T. N. Olson. They had a daughter, Ardes. L. T. N. died in 1964. The family farmed near Clermont and moved to town in 1960.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Henry and L. T. N., 2 step-sons, Louis A. and Kenneth Olson and 2 sisters, Mildred Schatz and Hazel Rear.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Lorraine) Olson of San Gabriel, CA and Mrs. Kent (Ardes) Pittman of Bakersfield, CA; 3 step-daughters, Mrs. Earl (Lavila) Opperman of Dubuque, Mildred Peterson of Elgin and Mrs. Jerry (Delores) McDermott of Rockford, IL, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Russel Mork of West Union and Howard Mork of Clermont and 2 sisters, Edna Torkelson of Ossian and Arlene Kloster of West Union.

Laura was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and the ALCW and the Senior Citizens Club of Clermont.

Casket bearers were Dennis Rear, Robert Koster, Duane Mork, Dale Mork, Allan Johnson and Howard Wangsness.
