Aines Burdette Olson
Funeral services for Aines Olson were held Friday, September 18, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. in the East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Paul Birkedal officiated. The organist was granddaughter, Lois Dummermuth, with special music by great grandson, Andrew Pollock. The Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Aines Burdette Olson, the son of Elliot Melvin and Olivia (Olson) Olson, was born May 15, 1913, in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, three miles east of Clermont, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, September 15, 1998 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. He had reached the age of 85 years and 4 months.
He was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member. Aines attended the Olson country school and Clermont High School.
On February 16, 1932, Aines was married to Harriet Luella Amundson at the Lutheran Parsonage in Clermont. To this union five daughters were born. They lived on the farm where Aines was born and moved to their home in Clermont in 1980. He became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Postville in 1998.
Surviving are his wife, Harriet, five daughters, Darlene and Oliver Larson and Marilyn and LaVerne Larson, all of Elgin, IA, Sandra and Calvin Penz, Rochester, MN, Anita and Donald Hoth, Lake Zurich, IL, and Karen and David Frieden, Swisher, IA, 20 grandchildren, Keith Larson, Bradley Larson, Ramona Friederich, Lenee Pollock, Ann Bartz, Lois Dummermuth, Gary Larson, James Larson, Barbara Wenger, David Larson, Cathryn Bastien, Pauline Utesch, Steven Penz, Connie Penz, Kevin Hoth, Darren Hoth, Edward Hoth, Jeffrey Frieden, Joan Frieden, Mark Frieden; 38 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Myra and husband, Harry Stolle of Platte, MO, and Bertha and husband, Franklin Olson of Clermont, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Stanley Larson, a great grandson, Forrest Pollock, two brothers, Richard Olson and Mervin Olson, and two sisters, Vera Mae Olson and Minnie (Mrs. John Jungblut), twin sister of Myra.
Casketbearers were grandsons Keith Larson, Gary Larson, Bradley Larson, James Larson, David Larson, Darren Hoth, Edward Hoth, Kevin Hoth, Jeffrey Frieden, Mark Frieden, and Steven Penz.
