Carl F. Bruihler, 92, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Hawkeye, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Western Home Communities Stanard Assisted Living, Cedar Falls.
Services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo, with burial in Hawkeye Cemetery, Hawkeye.
Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls was in charge of arrangements.
Carl F. Bruihler was born March 25, 1917, in Lansing. He was the son of Gottfried C. and Ada (Guenther) Bruihler.
On Feb. 6, 1954, he married Myrtle M. Olsen in Sumner. She preceded Carl in death on April 6, 2002.
Carl graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1935 and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Upper Iowa University in 1952 and his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1955 from Drake University.
He worked as a pharmacist in the area, often substituting in the Union Drug pharmacy in West Union. Carl retired in 1989.
In addition to his wife, Carl was preceded in death by two sisters, Belva (in infancy) and Ruth Mashek.
Survivors include three sons, John (Debra) Bruihler of Rushford, Minn., Carl (Mary Kay) Bruihler Jr. of St. Peter, Minn., and Bill (Ruth Anne Rasmusson) Bruihler of Montenegro.
Memorials may be directed to the church or Western Home Communities.
