Funeral services for Rose Ann Howe, 83, of Waucoma were held Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Waucoma Funeral Chapel, Waucoma, Iowa.

Burial was in the Waucoma Cemetery. Michael Howe, Spiro Anthopoulos, Tony Anthopoulos, Erick Kisner, Brian Humphrey, Matt Humphrey, Jacob Howe and Chris Kisner served as casket bearers.

Arrangements were handled by Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union.

Rose died of natural causes on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls.

Rose Ann (Lewis) Howe was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Wadetown, Ohio, to Edward and Bertha (Vanness) Lewis.

She spent her childhood in Warsaw, Ill., and worked in a button factory at a younger age.

She married Earl Connelly, and they were later divorced.

On Feb. 1, 1954, Rose married John Howard Howe in Waucoma. She spent her remaining years as a homemaker.

She had been a resident of Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls for several years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John; an infant daughter, Janice; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Bell Lewis, Margaret White, Ann Horton and Kathryn Rindels; and three brothers, Charles, Harry, and Albert Lewis.

Rose is survived by four daughters, Sherry Six of Rockford, Ill., Sharleen (Joe) Humphrey of Pleasant Hill, Joyce Cummings of Waterloo, and Helen (Wayne) Hannan of Oelwein; three sons, Kenny (Lori) Connelly of Marion, Jim (Diane) Connelly of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Howard "Jake" (Maureen) Howe of Sagle, Idaho.

Additional survivors include 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Lewis of Waterloo; two sisters, Ruth Crabtree of Muscatine and Lena Hurt of Pontiac, Ill.; nieces and nephews.
