Edwin Buser, son of Jacob and
Agatha Stoll Buser, was born in Basil,
Switzerland, February 12, 1870 and died
at his home in Clermont, Monday morning,
June 29, 1936, at the age of sixty-six years,
four months and seventeen days. He
suffered a stroke on the previous Wednesday
and was ill only five days.
After completing his education in the
public schools of Basil, Switzerland, he came
to this country at the age of 17, in the year
1898 and settled in Clermont, Fayette
county and has made this his home ever
since, with the exception of six years spent in
Oklahoma. In 1898, he was united in
marriage with Anna Scheer at Clermont and
to this union five children were born. Two
of the children died in infancy and those
surviving him are Metta, Edwin and Roy, all
of Clermont. These children with his
sorrowing widow survive him. His parents
and brothers and sisters have all preceded
him in death.
Deceased was a member of the Elgin Baptist
church and has held the position of clerk in the
church for the past 25 years. He was a member
of the Clermont school board for many years
and held the position of city assessor. He enjoyed
a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon
at 1 o'clock from the home in Clermont and at
2 o'clock in the Elgin Baptist Church. Music was
furnished by the male chorus consisting of Edwin
Bauman, Carl Hackman, Gus Hackmann and Eli
Habeger accompanied by Lillian Jacobs. Casket
bearers were Carl Hackmann, B. J. Baumgartner,
John Miller, O. W. Krueger, Emil Potratz and Hans
Grether. The Rev. Paul F. Zoschke officiated at the
services and burial was made in the Clermont
cemetery.
