Arlene Ruckdashel
Arlene Ruckdashel, 84, Clermont, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home on April 28, 2009, following a brief illness. She was born on March 1, 1925, in rural Clermont, Iowa, to Henry and Elvira (Rowland) Johnson.
Arlene graduated from Clermont High School in 1943. She then worked at Chamberlains in Waterloo, Iowa, for a time. She was united in marriage to Merle Ruckdashel on August 12, 1945, at the West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. Two children were born from this union. Merle and Arlene farmed together in rural Elgin, Iowa. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, mushroom hunting, having grandma's coffee hour, taking pictures and spending time with friends and family. Arlene will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include two children, Sharon (Dick) Hartley, Trona, CA and Phil (Jaynee) Ruckdashel, Elgin; six grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Schuyler, Josh Hartley, Jeremy Ruckdashel, Jamie Ruckdashel, Jennifer (Paul) Franzen, and Gene Ruckdashel; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Linda) Johnson, Clermont; one sister-in-law, Audrey Johnson, Oelwein; and one brother-in-law, Clarence (Bev) Ruckdashel, Mesa, AZ.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle Ruckdashel in 1999; three brothers, Allen Johnson, Howard Johnson, and DeWayne Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Dwight Albers will be officiating.
Burial will follow in the God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church.
