James Watkins Lawrence, son
of Jerome and Orva Lawrence,
was born October 5, 1869 at Monona,
Iowa and passed away September
1, 1937, at the age of 68
years, 10 months and 13 days, at
Oelwein, Iowa.
Mr. Lawrence spent the earlier
part of hls life in western Iowa
and the last 25 years around
Greeley and Arlington where he
was engaged in farming, retiring
four years ago and moving to
Oelwein .
On Sept. 11, 1893 he was united
in marriage to Bessie Powell. To
this Union was born eight children,
one son James dying in infancy.
Remaining to mourn his
death besides 'his' devoted wife
are three sons, Edward and Glen
of Oelwein and Walter of Muncie,
Indiana and four daughters, Mrs.
Monte Daly . and Mrs. Arthur,
Hansen of Chicago; Mrs. Claire
Everett of Waterloo; Mrs. Claude,
Lilllbridge of Oelwein, nine
grandchildren, two sisters and
many friends.
Funeral services were held at
the Brant funeral home Friday
afternoon at two O'clock. Rev.
Wm. McClurg of the Christian
Church officiating. Burial was at
Greeley, Iowa.—Con
