(This obituary was taken from the Crow Valley News - Grover, Weld,
County, Colorado. Mr. Hopka was a former Westgate resident).

WESTGATE - Moritz Hopka died Monday morning, Nov. 11, at the
Greeley Hospital. His illness lasted 12 years. Mr. Hopka was born in
Germany on November 2, 1872, came to America with his parents
at the age of 22 years. He took up residence at Westgate, Iowa. He
married Augusta Lentzkow in Oelwein, Iowa on May 20, 1903. She
survives her husband. The Hopkas' moved to the community of
Grover in 1917. Mr. Hopka operated a farm near Grover for 29 years.
Besides his widow, Mr. Hopka is survived by his seven sons; Rev.
Erick Hopka of Greeley; Paul H. Hopka of Pine Bluff; Gerhard Hopka
of Cheyenne; Erwin Hopka of Ft. Collins; Aviation Machinists Mate
first class Victor Hopka with the Navy at Pearl Harbor. Due to Mr.
Victor Hopka's absence at this time the body of Mr. Hopka will be held
until a later date. Committal will take place when Victor arrives.
Other sons, Herbert and Albert of the home.
Besides his widow and sons, Mr. Hopka leaves behind three daughters;
Miss Hattie Hopka of Denver; Mrs. Lowell Thomas, Cheyenne; Mrs.
James Sievers, Briggsdale, Colorado. There also remain 8 grandchildren.
One daughter died in infancy. Mr. Hopka has one brother and sister
living in Iowa. Two brothers preceded him in death.
