Kenneth James Nelson

Kenneth Nelson died Thursday, March 1, 1990 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.

Kenneth James Nelson was born January 1, 1941 at the caretaker's house for the Montauk Mansion to Joseph and Clarice (Walvatne) Nelson.

He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Ossian, and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church.

He went to Dover 8 school until third grade, and then to Larrabee Elementary and Clermont High School.

On May 15, 1960 he married Judith Dianne Schultz at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. They had four children. He worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids from 1959 to 1963. In 1963 he went to farming near Ossian. He farmed there until 1967 when he went to work for Henkal Construction out of Mason City operating heavy equipment. They moved to Clermont in 1969. He purchased the Clermont Pin Company in 1968 and continued to work construction until 1971.

Preceding him in death were his father, and a nephew, Jeffrey Nelson.

Surviving are his wife Judith, 4 children: Tami and Brenda Nelson of Clermont, Barry Nelson of Des Moines and Todd Nelson at Wartburg College; his mother Clarice of Clermont; 3 brothers: Enoch Nelson of Elgin, Henry Nelson of Oelwein, Milton Nelson of Decorah and 2 sisters: Mrs. Roger (Delores) Leppert of Dickey, North Dakota, and Mrs. Jack (JoAnne) Sexton of Dayton, Ohio.

Services were conducted March 5 by Pastor Donald Loots at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. Arrangements were by Muehlethaler Funeral Home. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa.

Pallbearers were: Terry Schott, Mike Heller, Dick Yauslin, Randy Wiedenhoff, Larry Meyer and George Larson.
