FAYETTE (Special) — Floyd
Coleman, 65, who lived alone seven
miles east of Fayette, committed
suicide some time Tuesday,
according to county coroner J. R.
Wood.
Coleman was found shot
through the chest on a bed at the
Ralph Gates farm, where he lived,
by two sons of McKinley
Gates at 5:30 p. m. He had been
in failing health for some time.
He had been last seen alive Tuesday
morning.
Surviving are his wife, who
lives in Oelwein; five daughters,
Ruth and Genevieve of Oelwein,
Mrs. Lyle Berry, Fayette, Mrs.
Forrest Cumberland, Lamont and
Mrs. Gerald Vander of Strawberry
Point; two sons, Lyle of Oklahoma
and Don of Cedar Rapids,
and four sisters, Mrs. L. L. Cole,
Fayette, Mrs. Leon Knight, Decorah,
Mrs. Fannie Holmes, Oelwein,
and Mrs. Taylor of Washington
state.
Two sons. Linden and Melford,
preceded him in death. Funeral
arrangements have not been
made.
