OELWEIN - Dawn Voshell, 44, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2009 of injuries she sustained in a car/semi accident three miles north of the intersection of Highways 3 & 63 in Bremer County.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Darwin Moore officiating.

Gathering of friends and relatives is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. Inurnment will be in the Wadena Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 102 Eighth Ave. NW Apt. 2C, Oelwein, IA 50662.

Dawnette Joy Thomas was born May 27, 1964 at Waverly, Iowa. She was the daughter of Marvin Harold and Zebbie Zo Ann (Davis) Thomas. Dawn graduated from Oelwein Community High School in 1982. She was married to Joel Craig Voshell in 1989 and they recently divorced. Dawn had been store manager for Top Of The Line in Oelwein. After earning a degree in ophthalmology, she then worked at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City as an ophthalmology technician.
Dawn is survived by her son Jake Voshell (friend Kristin Carnicle) of Oelwein; her father Marvin (Nancy) Thomas of Oelwein; her brother Marty (Deb) Thomas of Oelwein; one granddaughter; a niece and two nephews; a stepsister Becky (Brian) Meisgeier of Arlington and family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her mother.
