Bert William Kiel 1883-1956

Bert William, son of Frederick
and Amanda Painter Kiel, was
born near Monroe, Wis., March
28, 1883, and died at his home, 118
1st St. N. E., Oelwein on March
25, 1956, after an illness of several
years.
When a boy of two he came with
his parents to Iowa, settling south
of Maynard where they lived until
about 1906 when they moved to a
farm south of Oelwein. On Dec. 9,
1908 he married Leona Ridler. He
had lived practically his whole
life in and near Oelwein. They
moved to Oelwein in 1952.
He is survived by his wife: three
sons, Marvin, Alvin and Calvin, all
of Oelwein; two grandchildren,
Eugene Kiel and Linda Kay Kiel;
also two brothers, Vern of Oelwein
and Orville of South Bend,
Ind.
Funeral services were held at
the Brant funeral chapel Tuesday,
March 27, at 2 p. m. in charge of
Dr. L. W. Hauter, pastor of the
Presbyterian church. Russell
Brant, accompanied by Mrs. Sam
Smith, sang. The following served
as casket bearers: Harry Keniston,
Charles Henderson, George Miller,
William Becker, George Bushee
and Jerry Rechkemmer. Burial was
in Woodlawn.
