Oelwein--La Verle Ione Hulbert, 82, of Oelwein died Friday, April 19 (it was the 17th), 2009 at Oelwein Care Center in Oelwein. There will be a small graveside service at the Taylorsville Cemetery in rural Arlington on Thrusday, April 23rd at 2 pm. LaVerle Ione Bigelow was born Jan 14, 1927 at Dundee, IA to John Frederick and Nellie May (Harkin) Bigelow. She graduated from Arlington high School in 1946. She married Doyle Hulbert on April 16, 1947. They resided in Arlington where they operated Hulbert Plumbing and Heating for 20 years. After retiring she was a resident of Dunkerton, IA until 1990 when she moved to Oelwein, and has been a resident there ever since. Survivors include a son Rodney Hulbert of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Paula Thomas and a granddaughter Raven Thomas both of Oelwein, and a sister, Virginia Slater of Arlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Doyle, and a sister Maxine Dempster.
