Julianna Busse was born in Louisenwalda,
province of Posen, Germany,
in October, 1834. In 1855 she was united
in marriage to Charles Zenft and
they came to this country in March,
1883. They located in this section and
resided in Buchanan and Fayette
counties during the remainder of their
lives. Mr. Zenft died July 17, 1901.
They were the parents of six children,
four daughters and two sons
Three of the daughters died in the
old country, and one daughter, Mrs.
Adolph Schneider and two sons, Emil
and Albert Zenft, survive her. The
three are residents of Oelwein. During
the past years since the demise of her
husband, Mrs Zenft has resided with
her son Albert at whose home she
passed away at 12:45 p. m. April 11.
The immediate cause of her death
was paralysis. Last fall she suffered
a stroke, and three weeks ago she was
afflicted with another. April 8 the third
brought her to the valley of the shadow
and Wednesday she passed over.
She was a member of the Lutheran
church from childhood and in her life
and last days was a firm believer in
the Lord Jesus Christ. The last service
was held from the Lutheran
church in Oelwein Friday at 1 p. m.
conducted by Rev. Greening, of Waverly.
Interment was in the Oran cemetery
