ROSWELL, N.M. - Word has been received of the death of Oelwein
native, John J. O'Connor, 81, in Roswell, NM., Sunday, Dec. 17,1995.
Mr. O'Connor was born in Oelwein in 1914, and attended Sacred
Heart School. He graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, and
attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He married Kathleen
Cassiday in 1939. Mr. O'Connor had been a resident of Roswell since
1976. He had served as a deacon at Assumption Catholic Church and as
an assistant chaplain at the Poor Clare Monastery.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Maureen
McFadden of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Ellen Connolly of St. Paul, Minn.;
three grandchildren; his sister, Mary Borland of Santa Fe; and four nieces
and nephews.
Burial will take place at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, rural
Clayton County.
