ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Funeral services for Jack H. Luther, formerly
of Oelwein, will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, at Floral Hills Chapel,
rural Oelwein, with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 7 until 9 p.m., today (Tuesday) at the funeral home.
Mr. Luther, 79, died Friday, July 21, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque
of emphysema. '
He was born May 6, 1916, in Arlington, the son of Hugh and Bessie
(Gardener) Luther. He married Kathryn Moran, Dec. 21, 1963, in Rock ,
Island, Ill. Mr. Luther worked as a lineman and a switchman for the Great
Western railroad in Oelwein for several years. He had been a resident of New
Mexico since 1970. Prior to his retirement in 1980, he managed the Truly
Nolan Pest Control Company in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of Albuquerque; four sons, Robert of
Albuquerque, John of Clinton, Bill of Des Moines, and Skip of Nashville,
Tenn.; three daughters, Connie Serra of Oelwein, Becky Ollerbeck and
Tammy Oltrogge, both of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grand-
children; one sister, Frances Willett of Waterloo; and numerous cousins,
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Martin;
and one sister, Maxine.
The family suggests memorials be made in his name to the American Lung
Association.
