Elizabeth Reif nee Younker was
born January 20, 1847, at Zimligberg
Canton Bern Switzerland and
died at Sumner, Iowa, on May 13
1922 at the age of 76 years 3 months
and 23 days.
At 11 years of age she came with
her parents to America, settling at
Joliet, Ill. On September 2 she waa
united in marriage to August Reif,
which union was blessed with 6 sons
and one daughter. In 1882 the family
moved to a farm south of Sumner and
ten years later to the town of Sumner
her late home.
Mother Reif was converted in the
fall of 1863 and joined the Evangelical
Association. She remained a faithful
and devoted member until her
death. She was one of the quiet,
faithful, and unassuming disciples of
the lowly Nazareen, always able and
ready to give a reason of the hope
within her.
She leaves to follow her into the beyond
her five sons, George of Sumner,
Andrew of Hazen No. Dak. Aaron of
Ackley, Edward, of Sumner and Will
of Nashua and one daughter Mary
Mrs. George Messerer, of Sumner, 16
grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren
and other relatives and many
friends.
May none of them fail to meet mother
in the glorious family reunion
in heaven.
Funeral services were held Tuesday
afternoon.
