John Stantford Aubrey, one of Oelwein's most highly
respected citizens, departed this life on the morning of
July 13, 1917; his illness covering a period of seven
months. He was born in Delaware County, Iowa,
September 2, 1836 and there grew to manhood.

King. They moved to Sumner, Bremer County, in
1869, and resided there until nineteen years ago, when
he retired from active life and took up residence in
Oelwein.
Four sons were born to them, L. E. and O. R. of Sumner,
William of Oelwein and Frank of Oakland, Minnesota
all of whom, together with the wife and mother are left
to mourn the loss of a kind and devoted husband and
father. He also leaves a wide circle of friends who have
known him to be honorable and upright in all his dealings
a sympathetic helper in their times of need, doing his
unprentchtious way the little things that count so much in
this world and the one expression from all is this " A
good man is gone."
