MARSHALLTOWN — Funeral
services for a former Oelwelnite
Percy L. Butler; 77, will be conducted
at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at St.
Mary's Catholic church here. Monsignor
B. H. Skahill will officiate
at the Requiem Mass. Burial services
will be conducted at Woodlawn
cemetery in Oelwein at 10:30
a.m. by the Rev. P. J. Maguire of
Oelwein Sacred Heart church.
Mr. Butler, a retired,switchman
with the Chicago Great Western
railway, died Thursday at 1:10 p.m.
at his home here. He retired in
1945.
Mr. Butler was born in Oelwein
Aug. l, 1879, the son of George
and Clara Dorland Butler. He
moved from Oelwein to Marshalltown
39 years ago.
On Jan. 29, 1902, he married
Emma Lennon at Oelwein. The
couple noted their golden wedding
anniversary in 1952.
Survivors include his wife and
a daughter. Mrs. Willis Benton,
Waterloo, and a sister, Mrs. Virgil
Tetsworth, Ft. Pierce, Florida. Also
two grand children. He was
preceded in death by his parents
and a brother.
The body lies in state at Avey
funeral home in Marshalltown
where the rosary will be recited
at 7:30 tonight (Friday).
