Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on August 5, 2004 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Clermont, Iowa with inurnment at a later date in the St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Clermont, for
Robert John Schupanitz, 69, of Elgin, Iowa, who died Monday morning, August 2, 2004 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, following a long illness.

He was born June 7, 1935 in Cedar Rapids to Robert and Cathryn (Shissel) Schupanitz. He attended St. Peter Catholic Schools in Clermont. As a youngster, Robert worked with his parents at their grocery in Clermont. He later worked for a time at Elsheimer Meat Co. in West Union. He was custodian for St. Peter’s and opened graves for the church cemetery for many years as well.

Survivors include his brother, Dr. Gerald (Joanne) Schupanitz, Cedar Rapids and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dolores Osweiler.

Leonard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
