Mattie Amanda Foxx was born June 18, 1879 to Martha and Alonzo Foxx,
on a farm near Westgate, IA, where she grew to womanhood.

On February 15, 1899 she was united in marriage to Jesse D. Miller and
they, filled with hope and cheer for the future started their young lives on
on a farm near Oran, IA. In 1907 they moved to Waterloo for nine years
and then to Oelwein where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was baptised in the First Baptist church in Waterloo and remained
faithful in that belief until death. Great relief was found in her Lord at the
time of her passing to her eternal home.

To this union were born ten children; Mrs. Robert Driscoll, Lawrence and
Mrs. Kirk Garrison of Oelwein; Mrs. Orval Kiel of Des Moines; Russell, Virgil,
Floyd, Maxine and Donald, all at home. Kenneth having preceded her in
death in infancy.

This mother led a very beautiful life, never too busy or too tired to offer a
willing hand to anyone in need or in sorrow and created about herself a
hallow of cheer.

So fine and understanding she seemed a world mother, loving unselfishly
all who came in contact with her. The children of the neighborhood were
welcomed in her home for their merriment during leisure hours.

Besides the most devoted husband and the nine children, she is survived by
nine grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Robert Mailie of Sumner, IA; Mrs.
A. M. Baker, Westchester, IA; Mrs. H. A. Early, Waterloo, IA amd Mrs. R. E.
Lease, Sumner, IA and three brothers, O. A. Foxx, Chicago; D. A. Fox,
Decorah, IA and Pearl Foxx of Waterloo; one uncle, E. H. Dickey of Maynard,
and many neices and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm at the
Methodist church Sunday, December 7, 1930, with Rev. VanDenSchoten.
Burial at Fairbank, IA.
