Amanda Champlin 1838 - 1912

CHAMPLIN, MILLER, HANCOCK, WOODRUFF, PRICHARD, SMITH, BELL

Mrs. Amanda Champlin, better
known to her many friends in latter
years as "Grandma", passed from this
life to the more perfect one on Tuesday,
April 16, 1912, at 8 o'clock p m.
and was laid to rest by the side of
her husband who had preceded her
by about seven years. Funeral services
were held at her home in Laurel,
Nebraska, April 19th at 2 p m
conducted by Rev. H. G. McCluskv
and Rev. H. G. Langley,
Amanda Miller was born in Chenango
County, New York, March 1,
1838 and was married there to Granville
Eugene Champlin March 1, 1859,
and shortly afterward moved to Fayette
county, Iowa, where she resided
until November 11, 1896 when the
family removed to Laurel, Nebraska
where she spent the remaining years
of a useful life surrounded by her
children and a host of friends whose
hearts are filled with sorrow by the
loss of a loving mother and neighbor
Six children were born to this union
four of whom are living and were
with her at the last. They are J. J.
Champlin. Mrs. F. H. Hancock and
Mrs. C. L. Woodruff, of Laurel Neb
and Mrs. W. J. Prichard of Edgeley
North Dakota; also two sisters Mesdames
G. W. Smith and A. G. Bell of
Oelwein. Iowa, and a brother. Dr.
Edgar Miller of Eaton, New York.
