James Wetherbee 1880-1944

WETHERBEE, KUHNS, JOHNSON, GRAHAM

James Wetherbee, age 64 years,
6 months and 25 days, passed
away at his home in Oelwein on
September 4, 1944.
Born on February 9, 1880, he
was the son of Perry and Francis
Wetherbee who lived on a farm
in Fayette County near Oelwein.
At the age of 8 his parents moved
to this city where he has lived
since that time.
On July 16, 1907, he was united
in marriage to Effie Kuhns and
to this union were born six children,
one of whom died in infancy.
Those surviving his death include
his wife, one daughter, Mrs
James Johnson of Grand Island
Nebraska; four sons, Delbert and
Leslie of Oelwein, Glen of the U. S.
Army Air Corps somewhere
overseas, and Richard in the U. S
Navy stationed in San Diego
California; one brother, William
of Oelwein, and two sisters, Mrs
Edward Kuhns of Oelwein, and
Mrs. D. Graham of Clinton, Iowa
Mr. Wetherbee wns employed
by the Chicago and Great Western
Railroad for nearly 42 years
He was a kind and loving father
and his home and family always
were first in his life.
Rev. W. Edward Epps. pastor of
the First Baptist Church, officiated
at the funeral services held
Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the
Brant Funeral Home. Burial was
made at Woodlawn.
